Woking 1 County 3

NEWPORT County AFC closed the gap at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier with a comprehensive win at form side Woking this afternoon.

The Cards had won their last four league matches but were swept aside by County in a stunning first half display as Lee Minshull scored twice and Byron Anthony added a third.

Woking pushed hard for a way back into the match in the second half but only had a stoppage-time goal from substitute Gavin McCallum to show for their efforts.

With leaders Grimsby Town and second-placed Wrexham both in FA Trophy action, the Exiles moved within two points of the Conference summit.

Great result, and on the evidence of recent games the change in formation has made the defence much, much more stable. Well Done!!

Nice one county, JE appears to have the right formation but I am still worried about their propensity to concede late goals.

Another fab commentary by Tim Thraves. Another great performance from a TEAM who are back on form.
Well done to Lee Minshull, who I have been rather critical of for most of the season. Praise where praise is due. Good to see him come good in the last three games, with two well taken goals on Saturday. Flynn and Pidgeley outstanding. Keep up the good work!
Looking forward to the video.
Will be there next Saturday.

Countyvoice hit the nail on the head with the use of the word 'controlled'. From start to finish you felt that the team were playing in a comfortable formation and not running around like headless chickens. A big well done to all concerned and of course the wonderful 'Tim' and his totally unbiased commentary.

Brilliant by JE and the players to get 2 wins against 2 in form sides and not waste the games in hand.

Last 2 matches of the season are away to Luton and Grimsby but the 14 games before that are all winnable so lets wrap it up and avoid the end of season pressure. Mostly 2 games a week now but so have the other contenders and County have a large enough and talented enough squad to cope... and dryer pitches will suit County from now on.

Go for it boys ! support the County !

Dare we dream of Luton clapping the County onto the pitch at Kenilworth Road as the Conference champions ?
