NATIONWIDE House were skittled out for only 95 before falling to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Marlborough.

The visitors won the toss and elected to field, and did not allow their hosts to settle as they took regular wickets to stop Nationwide getting into any sort of rhythm.

Stuart Archer offered the only resistance with 44, but Marlborough were able to take their time to knock-off the required target in 32 overs to take the victory.

John Reivers got the home innings off to a quick start as he hit a four and a six on his way to 12, but he didn’t last long as he was eventually clean bowled by Ben Head.

The Marlborough man struck again to remove Nick Clarke with his very next ball, and although Chris Sharp survived the hat-trick ball, he was soon dismissed for only two by George Fox, who three balls later got rid of Luke Bradley-Leach.

Archer’s 44 off 76 balls steadied the home ship, but with wickets tumbling around him it wasn’t enough to help his side post a decent total, despite 20 not out from Roger Thwaites.

Nationwide got off to the perfect start in the field as Thwaites dismissed opener Nick Crabbe without a run being scored, but that was as good as it got as Bradley James set about the home attack with a paced innings of 43 from 93 balls which included three fours.

Zwelibanzi Homani was sent on his way by Mark Morris for 19, but James and Peter Day were left unbeaten at the end as Marlborough took an easy victory.
