NEWPORT’S clash with Dagenham and Redbridge today has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Overnight rain and the prospect of more to come, coupled with standing water on the playing surface, led to the referee making an early decision today, after a preliminary inspection on Friday evening.

Both managers, County’s Justin Edinburgh and Dagenham’s Mark Burnett, were in attendance for the inspection and supported the decision of the referee.

Rodney Parade's head groundsman Mark Jones tweeted: "Both managers and the ref agree that pitch is waterlogged and unfortunately today's game is off."

Newport defender Tony James tweeted: "Another game off. #playingcatchup."
