The statement reads: "Peterborough United are pleased to confirm that striker Conor Washington has passed a medical and penned a three-and-a-half year contract at London Road.
"Washington will go straight into the squad for Wednesday night's scheduled Sky Bet League One clash at Sheffield United.
"The 21-year-old, who scored over 60 goals at St. Ives in as many appearances, trained with his new team-mates on Tuesday. Striker Shaun Jeffers has joined Newport as part of the transfer."
Posh manager Darren Ferguson said: "Conor is a player that has good pace, he can play on the shoulder and I think we needed that variation. Conor gives us that different option.
"He was desperate to come to us, he wanted to sign and I am pleased to have him on board. He will go straight into the squad for Wednesday's game.
"He has played a lot of games this season so he doesn't need time to get up to speed."
