Swalec Cup draw: Keys head back to the capital

First published in Sport

CROSS Keys will once again look to be fantastic on the plastic Cardiff pitch when they head to the capital in the quarter-finals of the Swalec Cup, writes Chris Kirwan.

The Pandy Park outfit's reward for a thumping 31-3 win at Bedwas last weekend is another away tie against the Blue and Blacks, who beat Newbridge 30-3 in round two.

Keys triumphed 38-10 when the teams met at the Arms Park in the Premiership last November, although their stunning bonus-point win was overshadowed by a late brawl that saw flanker Rhys Peebles red-carded and subsequently jailed.

If Ebbw Vale beat RGC 1404 at Eugene Cross Park on Saturday then they will enjoy home advantage against Premiership title hopefuls Llandovery.

Newport will have to do it the hard way if they are to make it to the semi-finals – if they beat holders Pontypridd on Saturday then they will welcome Llanelli to Rodney Parade.

The last of the quarters, which will be on March 22, sees Carmarthen Quins heading to Aberavon.
