MIDFIELDER Lee Minshull hopes County’s topsy-turvy form can be to their advantage ahead of today’s tricky test against high-flying Scunthorpe United, writes Michael Pearlman.

The Exiles have lost back-to-back home games, to strugglers Cheltenham Town and AFC Wimbledon, but also beat Oxford United at Rodney Parade, ending the only unbeaten away record in the Football League.

And now County face a similarly daunting task with Scunthorpe arriving over the Severn Bridge unbeaten in 17 games since November 2013.

The form guide certainly suggests an away win but Minshull insists County aren’t concerned by the visitors.

“It’s been a tough week, losing to my old team, it was a disappointing result, but the games are coming thick and fast and it’s a chance to put things right.

“We’ve got two really tough home games, but we always back ourselves at home to put some points on the board.

“We played Scunthorpe earlier in the season, they are a good side, but we know on our day we’ve got enough quality to win football matches.

“We showed that against Oxford and we can do it again.”

Minshull also sees the silver lining on events of the past week or so.

“No one really pulled away from us, everyone is beating everyone in the division and we are still in it, it’s tough to play here for both sides and there is no reason why we can’t get back amongst it.

“March is a crazy month with loads of games and we want to put a run together for the fans and to get everyone on our side.

“March is do or die, by the end of the month we’ll know where the season is going and it’d be nice to have the big games at the end of the season that we are experienced in from last season.

“If we can stay in contention, I fancy us to finish the season strongly again.”

The Exiles are without goalkeepers Lenny Pidgeley (ankle) and Jamie Stephens (groin) though Pidgeley should be fit to return with 10-14 days.

Striker Aaron O’Connor is also optimistic of playing a part for County sometime in March. Otherwise, boss Justin Edinburgh has a full compliment to choose from.
