THIRTY-THREE members of Gassor’s Tournament Taekwon-Do Teamfrom the Newport Martial Arts & Fitness Centre (MAFC) took part in the UK ITF English Taekwon-Do Championships in Stoke and came away with 16 champions.
The team won a fantastic 37 medals in total, 16 Gold medals, 9 Silver medals and 12 Bronze medals.
It was also a double celebration for Gassor’s after the tournament as three team members: Arron Rose, Liam Rossiter and Gwyn Blackmore were selected to train with Team UK and will also take part in the UK Champs in May.
The club are very proud of all 33 students who took part in the tournament and the team’s medal results were: Gold Medals: (English Champions) Adam Reed – Patterns, Arron Rose – Patterns, Axel Hegarty – Sparring, Caitlin Nail – Special Technique (Jumping High Kick), Daniel Holmes – Sparring, Ellis Murphy – Sparring, Jessie Taylor – Sparring and Special Technique (Flying Side Kick), Kian Luton – Sparring, Morgan Thomas – Special Technique (Jumping High Kick), Owen Powell – Sparring, Rhiannon Nielsen – Sparring, Ryan Davies – Sparring and Special Technique (Jumping High Kick), Sam Chand – Sparring and William Holmes – Sparring.
Silver Medals: Adam Reed – Sparring, Ethan Kyte – Special Technique (Flying Side Kick), Isobel Southway – Sparring, Jamie Yung – Sparring, Logan Hegarty – Sparring, Owain Thompson-Reynolds – Sparring, Rhian Morgan – Sparring and Special Technique (Jumping High Kick) and Sam Chand – Special Technique (Jumping High Kick).
Bronze Medals: Axel Hegarty – Patterns, Caitlin Nail – Sparring, Craig Radford – Sparring and Patterns, Gwyn Blackmore – Sparring, Harri Radford – Sparring, Jack Taylor – Sparring, Liam Rossiter – Sparring, Morgan Thomas – Sparring and Patterns, Myles Bassage-Morgan – Sparring and Owen Powell – Patterns.
Congratulations also go to: Emilio Thacker, George Williams, Greg Styles, Jack Powell, Jake Rendle, Logan Maskell and Tomos Sharwood, who also all gave great performances.
