THREE of Gwent's amateur boxing stars were victorious in the 2014 Welsh Elite Championship Finals at the Cardiff House of Sport tonight.

Newport’s 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sean McGoldrick beat Joshua John (Britton Ferry) on points via a unanimous decision in the men’s 56kg final.

And his St Joseph’s stablemate Joe Cordina beat Nico Morrison (Pembroke Dock) on points, also by unanimous decision, in the men’s 60kg final.

In the women’s 51kg final Ashley Brace of Torfaen Warriors beat Lynsey Holdaway (Merthyr Ex) via split decision.

But fellow Torfaen fighter Becky Price was beaten by Charlene Jones (Merlins Bridge) on points, also via split decision, in the women’s 60kg final.
