NEWPORT County AFC have announced their initial pre-season fixture list for this summer.

The Exiles will begin the build-up to their second season in League Two with four away friendlies in July to give the pitch at Rodney Parade time to recover from drainage work that is due to begin on May 12.

Justin Edinburgh's men travel to Evesham United first up on Tuesday, July 8, (kick-off 7.45pm).

Then they go to Cirencester Town on Saturday, July 12 (kick-off 3pm) and Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday, July 15, (kick-off 7.30pm).

The Exiles conclude their travels with a match against Tim Harris' Gloucester City AFC on Saturday, July 19, (kick-off 3pm) at Cinderford Town FC.

County then return to Rodney Parade to take on old friends Carl Zeiss Jena on Saturday, July 26, (kick-off 3pm).

More friendlies are expected to be announced shortly with a final prestige home friendly likely to be slotted in after the game against Jena and before the league campaign begins again on August 9.
