ST Andrew's edged out Langstone by three tries to two in a thrilling Tata Steel Gateway Tag final at Rodney Parade.
The Newport schools played a thrilling contest at half-time of the Dragons' end-of-season clash with Treviso on Saturday evening.
The end-to-end encounter entertained the 6,000 crowd and was edged by a superb team try that was finished off by Keegan Johnsey in the last minute.
Langstone Primary flyer Ollie Andrews was given the player of steel award for giving his all.
"It was a smashing game," said Dragons community manager Mike Sage. "The standard of tag rugby that those teams displayed showed everything we do at our Gateway sessions is getting through to the pupils."
