LEE SELBY is heading for a world title showdown after winning the fight he really needed to against Romulo Koasicha at the Motorpoint Arena.

The British and Commonwealth featherweight king is now set for a WBC title shot, hopefully in 2014, after a tough examination against the Mexican currently studying to be a mechanical engineer.

And indeed, Koasicha was almost robotic in his resilience, absorbing a lot of punishment in the first half of the fight as Selby jabbed with power and precision and occasionally opted to throw some combinations that dazzled his opponent.

However, Selby’s issues with the fragility of his hands seems to weigh heavy and he seemed reluctant to fully unload, content enough to manoeuvre his opponent from rope to rope as he proved his ability to fight his way.

Selby’s game-plan was sound as he mixed his attack and the Mexican struggled to cope, especially with some booming body shots.

By the latter rounds it was abundantly obvious only a stoppage could deny the Barry-boxer and he never looked in danger despite a cut around his right eye, winning the contest on all three cards by a distance, 119-109, 119-109, 119-110.
