CROSS Keys scored their bonus-point try after 52 minutes but still found time for a fifth in their best-ever win at Aberavon, writes Howard Evans.

Greg Woods told his players after the game that they had beaten almost an Ospreys A team as local lads were cast out for eight players from the Ospreys and their Academy to play.

Woods said: "They had professional rugby players and yet we played at a good tempo and both Adam Powell at No 8 and flanker Scott Matthews gave outstanding displays.

"Dorian Jones did a great job at fly half and though they caused us difficulty in the scrums we played with confidence and the season is going well for us so far.

"The good thing for us is that we have a fairly young and strong squad now,"

Powell stood out head and shoulders over every player and his creation of the fourth try was the game's highlight.

Aberavon probably had more of the possession but Woods was delighted at his side's defence as the Wizards hardly ever looked like breaking them down.

It was after three minutes that saw a high kick gathered by fast-following Keys players and Matthews did well to make the line with the classy Jones converting.

Aberavon gained two penalties by Ceiron Thomas and then, out of the blue, came a try by flanker Rob Dudley-Jones.

Cross Keys took the lead after 33 minutes when Jones cross-kicked cleverly, the brilliant Danny Hodge got up high and sent hooker Jon Howard in for his first league try that Jones converted.

After 48 minutes lock Scott Andrews drove over and Jones converted then came the best try as Powell ran well and sent wing James Cordy-Redden on a splendid run over 70 metres.

Three minutes from time and the wing grabbed his second after good interplay with replacement Nathan Williams and Jones converted again.

Aberavon had a last-gasp try by Aisea Natoga that Thomas converted but by then it was a job well done by Leon Andrews and his Keys side.
