FORMER Newport Gwent Dragons back-row Netani Talei has signed for Harlequins for the remainder of the season following his release from Rodney Parade in October.

Harlequins announced the signing of the 31-year-old this morning.

The club statement reads: "Harlequins is pleased to announce that back-row Netani Talei has signed with the club for the remainder of this season.

"Talei is a Fijian International who has played over 28 matches for his country, including seven Rugby World Cup appearances. He made his debut in 2006 against Tonga and has scored four international tries.

"The 31-year-old has also represented Worcester Warriors, Edinburgh and Newport Gwent Dragons on a domestic level."

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea said: "With international call ups and the squad stretched, Netani, who is vastly experienced and explosive, has come in and made an instant impression with everyone.

"He is a true professional in everything he does and we are delighted we have been able to extend his stay until the end of the season at the very least.”

Talei added: "This opportunity is a blessing for me and I'm so happy to be back playing after recovering from injury, especially for one of the top teams in both the UK and Europe.

"I'm looking forward to getting as much game time as possible for the rest of the season with Harlequins.”
