PETERBOROUGH United chairman Darragh MacAnthony claims he wouldn't sell former Newport County AFC star Conor Washington – even for £2million.

Washington has a clutch of Championship clubs chasing him in the January transfer window, but Posh are determined not to lose the 23-year-old on the cheap.

Queens Park Rangers are said to be tracking the striker by the Daily Mail, while the same paper says that Cardiff City, Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all interested.

Washington, who left Rodney Parade for London Road in January 2014, has scored 12 goals in his last 13 matches in League One.

Birmingham have just received a big fee for Demarai Gray from Leicester City, but they would have to reinvest most of it to sign Washington.

QPR, Wolves and Cardiff, meanwhile, could all be set to lose key players in January – which would bring in the funds required to sign the former Exiles man.

And County are set to benefit from a sell-on clause but Peterborough seem determined not to lose their main goalscorer as they bid for promotion from League One.

Posh are currently in the play-off spots in the third tier and are the top scoring side in the Football League.
