STAR man Aaron Ramsey believes ‘anything can happen’ for Wales at Euro 2016 after crushing Russia to make the knockout stages.

The Arsenal midfielder’s goal started the rout in Toulouse on Monday night and further strikes from Neil Taylor and Gareth Bale ensured Wales topped Group B.

They now face a second round tie against either Turkey or Northern Ireland in Paris on Saturday evening and Ramsey is convinced they can reach the quarter-finals and beyond.

“Our main target was to get out of the group and to finish top is a fantastic feeling,” he said.

“It means so much and I think we’ve made the fans proud but now that we’ve got through we want to see how far we can go.

“Anything can happen now in these games – it is 90 minutes and we will be trying to go on again to the next round.

“We’ve been waiting to be in the finals for a long time and we’re finally here,” he added.

“We wanted to stand out and to be recognised for the good work that we put in and for the amount of effort we put in defensively.

“Against England maybe the occasion got to us a little bit when we were in position.

“Against Russia we passed the ball tremendously well and could have scored more in the end.

“Overall it was a fantastic performance and we’ve topped the group, which nobody would have seen coming.”

On his goal, a delicate chip over goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev after Joe Allen’s defence-splitting pass, the 25-year-old said: “It was obviously a fantastic feeling to have – to score in this competition.

“We’ve been waiting a long time to be in this competition and experience what it’s like and scoring a goal like that to get us off the mark was a fantastic feeling.

“It was a great ball through from Joe Allen. He saw the run early and I took it in my stride and saw the goalkeeper come out so I thought I’d lift it over him and thankfully it went in.”

Wales will find out who their last-16 opponents will be after the group matches are completed tonight.
