DRAGONS supporters will be able to buy tickets for games at Rodney Parade from 10 leisure centres around the region as part of a new initiative.

Fans can pick up tickets for Guinness PRO14 and European Challenge Cup fixtures from reception at the venues thanks to a partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council, Aneurin Leisure and Torfaen Leisure Trust.

They will be available at discounted prices from the normal advance match day price and without booking fees or credit card charges.

Wales hooker Elliot Dee visited his local Newbridge leisure centre – which now features an advert featuring his face along with his fellow town natives Jack Dixon and Ollie Griffiths – to launch the scheme.

“I remember coming down to this leisure centre regularly as a youngster so giving people the chance to pick up their Dragons tickets at a discount here, helps keep the Dragons in people’s minds and by bringing the tickets to their community will hopefully lead to more sales and more support for us,” said the front rower.

“As players we know we represent a region and most of the squad lives nearby. Every day the players go to Ystrad Mynach to train, so we prepare in the valleys, before we perform in the city on match day.

“Everyone knows the atmosphere at Rodney Parade is a real rugby experience, with the support and banter on the terraces at Rodney Parade well known in the game.

“We would love to see full houses at Rodney Parade as the support we get there can boost the team performances and with lots of new faces in the squad we need that backing to help bring us together.”

Aneurin Leisure Trust are participating in the scheme at their venues in Abertillery, Ebbw Vale, Tredegar and Parc Bryn Bach. Torfaen Leisure Trust are selling tickets at Cwmbran Stadium and Pontypool Active Living Centre and Caerphilly CBC at Caerphilly, Risca, Newbridge and at the Dragons’ training base in Ystrad Mynach Centre of Excellence.
