HERSCHELLE Gibbs is poised to make his Glamorgan first-class debut when they take on Essex at Chelmsford tomorrow.

The South African batsman, who made a huge impact for the Dragons in last year's Twenty20 Cup is part of a 12-man squad for the County Championship, Division Two clash.

Meanwhile, Tom Maynard will act as 12th man for England when the Ashes get under way in Cardiff on Wednesday.
