Thelwell set for Kettering move

NEWPORT County central defender Alton Thelwell is expected to join Blue Square Premier side Kettering Town this week.

The former Tottenham star signed for the Exiles on non-contract terms in October and settled in quickly at Spytty Park but is keen to return to full-time football.

Thelwell started today's 3-0 win at Lewes on the bench but replaced the injured Jamie Collins with 20 minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, Wednesday's scheduled home match against Havant & Waterlooville has been moved to Wednesday, January 20, to avoid a clash with Havant's Hampshire Senior Cup tie on Tuesday.
