NEWPORT County have moved to appoint a General Manager with experienced local businessman Steve Dance chosen to fill the role.

The Exiles, now a fully full-time outfit and set to play for the next three years at least at Rodney Parade, have been without a GM since Phil Morgan left the club earlier this season.

The Exiles released the following statement to supporters this evening.

In a week where we appear to have justified the appearance of our move to Rodney Parade by taking both the back and front pages of the South Wales Argus, and furthermore, having mentions on BBC TV and radio, we are now pleased to announce more good news.

It is essential that we enter Rodney Parade with a determination to match the new facilities with a professionally run Club - off the pitch. For many years, we have been able to depend on the remarkable support offered by numerous volunteers, who have given up their time to assist in the day to day running of our Club.

We need to move into a new era, and to this end, we have decided to appoint a new full time General Manager.

Our chosen candidate is Mr Steve Dance. Many of you associated with the Club may well know Steve - he is a regular visitor to our Club. Steve has over 20 years of management experience, holding those roles with the Post Office, General Electric, Radyr Golf Club, and of course with his last employers - The Celtic Manor.

At the Celtic Manor, Steve was a particularly well respected Head of Membership for over five years, with additional responsibilities for Membership Relations, Sales and Administration. He played a major role in the Members Ticketing for the 2010 Ryder Cup.

As an accomplished golfer playing off single figures, Steve has been a keen and active sportsman. His role at the Celtic Golf Complex has offered him invaluable experience in the world of Corporate entertainment, allowing him almost daily contact with numerous other sports bodies and associations... Steve's appointment commences on Thursday June 7.
