HOME favourite Justyn Hugh stopped champion Jeff Evans to win the Welsh light-heavyweight title at the Newport Centre.
Pontypool's Evans was ahead on the referee's scorecard after seven rounds but midway through the eighth Hugh unleashed a powerful barrage of shots with his opponent on the ropes and not offering any defence.
The fight was stopped after two minutes and 11 seconds of the eighth round.
Bristol's Danny Butler produced the shot of the night with a huge right uppercut to KO Hugh's St Josephs stablemate Frankie Borg and claim his British Masters super-middleweight belt after one minute and 13 seconds of the eighth round of their 10-round contest.
Meanwhile British super-featherweight champion Gary Buckland warmed up for his title defence against Stephen Foster Jr on October 5 with a comfortable 79-74 points victory over tough Dutchman Innocent Anyanwu.
On the undercard, Buckland's younger brother Mitchell was hugely impressive in beating Newport's Craig Woodruff 40-36 on points.
There were also wins for Newport's Adam Goldsmith over Blackwood's Dai Jones, new St Joes recruit Chris Higgs against Newport's Jerome Samuels and heavyweight Dorian Darch with a first round stoppage.
