MICHAEL PEARLMAN SAYS: We all lose as England axe KP

AN enigma wrapped in a riddle with peacock like tendencies he may be, but we all lose with Kevin Pietersen departing, at least temporarily, from the international arena.

The rights and wrongs of the ‘Textgate’ row, the potential politics in the dressing room, as a simple lover of cricket, I couldn’t give a flying fig.

There is only one loser in all of this. Us.

And finally, huge kudos to Rory McIlroy for making history despite golf’s final major, the PGA Championship, flying under the Olympic radar.

McIlroy is 23-years old, younger than Tiger when he won his second major, and the manner of victory – by eight strokes – underlines his genius.

Maybe we are looking at the wrong golfer in wondering if/when Jack Nicklaus’ amazing majors record will be broken. Rory could be winning majors for another 25-years.
