NEWPORT County AFC manager Justin Edinburgh admits he has a tough decision to make ahead of today’s clash with Lincoln City – whether to change a winning team.

New signing Mike Flynn is pushing hard for a starting place having overcome a bout of sickness and he played 20 minutes as a substitute in Tuesday’s 4-0 hammering of Nuneaton Town.

But Edinburgh is reluctant to change a starting XI that has scored eight goals in two games and fired the Exiles to the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier.

“Everyone is fit now, apart from Alan Julian,” said Edinburgh.

“Flynny has not had a full week of training yet but he’s ready to go so I have a decision to make.

“But it would be very difficult to leave out anyone after the first two games because we’ve been excellent.

“That just shows you the strength of the squad now because people like Lee Minshull, Jake Harris and Ryan Charles are waiting for their chance and their time will come.”

One man who doesn’t have to worry about his place today is Jefferson Louis, who scored at Mansfield last week and against Nuneaton.

The 6ft 2ins striker was at Lincoln last season and was a key factor in the club's bid to avoid relegation under manager David Holdsworth.

Finances dictated the Imps could not keep hold of him in the summer and their loss has been County’s gain.

The task of manacling him today falls to Lincoln defender Andrew Boyce, who scored in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Cambridge United.

The towering centre-back played alongside Louis when they were at Gainsborough together and he knows what his old teammate has in store.

“He is going to want to smash me up a bit, but I would not expect anything less from Jeff to be honest,” he said.

“If he is on your team then he is brilliant to have because defenders hate playing against him because he is so physical.

“He is a very good player. He came to Lincoln and was magnificent but I am ready for him. I am sure there will be a lot of banter between us, but I am relishing the challenge.”

The visitors are likely to have several familiar faces in their squad.

Defenders Paul Robson and Tom Miller and striker Rob Duffy could all feature against their former club.
