CHEPSTOW sprinter Jenny McLoughlin will mount a three-pronged attack on the London 2012 Paralympics, insisting she’s capable of reaching the podium in all three events.

McLoughlin, 20, will make her second Paralympic appearance in the capital, having competed at Beijing 2008 aged just 16, failing to get out of both her 100m and 200m heats.

But this time around things could not be more different.

McLoughlin arrives at London 2012 as a 2010 Commonwealth Games silver medallist over 100m, while just this June she claimed 200m silver at the European Champ-ionships in the Netherlands.

And while McLoughlin, who will also compete in the 4x100m relay in London, is the first to admit that her Chinese adventure was simply a learning curve – this time around she’s desperate to taste success.

“I went to the Commonwealth Games and World Champion-ships recently, and also got a silver at European Champion-ships which really boosted my confidence coming into this summer,” said McLoughlin.

“I’ll be over the moon to get a medal this summer.

“Wearing a medal on a podium in front of a British crowd will be an unforgettable moment “The home crowd is going to be such a buzz. I went to Beijing four years ago and I remember all the crowd cheering for the Chinese athletes and that will be the same for me this summer.

“I can’t quite imagine what it’s going to be like yet, but everyone in this team is going to be in the same boat so I think it will be something we all talk about and help each other cope with.

“I think I will thrive on it – everyone is cheering you on, how can it not give you a buzz? I can’t wait for that part of it.”

McLoughlin is harbouring hopes of individual glory at London 2012 but she also believes that the 4x100m relay squad will be a force to be reckoned with.

And while Great Britain’s relay pedigree has been sub-standard in recent years – both at the Olympics and the Paralympics – McLoughlin believes she can help put that right.

“I’m also part of the relay team, we’ve got a good chance of taking a medal,” she added. “We’ve got a really confident squad.”
