NEWPORT County AFC fought back from a goal down to maintain their 100 per cent start to the Blue Square Bet Premier season at Braintree Town.
After a dour first half, Justin Edinburgh's side looked to be heading for their first defeat of the campaign when Brad Quinton gave the hosts the lead on 53 minutes.
But a fabulous 25-yard strike from Max Porter, which went in off the post and bar, changed the game.
The Exiles surged forward looking for a late winner and defender Ismail Yakubu was in the right place at the right time to convert substitute Lee Evans' free-kick with five minutes remaining.
That goal ensures County remain top of the table and the only side with a perfect record and a crowd of more than 5,000 is expected when fellow pace-setters Hereford Town come to Rodney Parade on Tuesday night.
