GREAT PERFORMANCE: Cwmcarn Gymnastics members Kira Sparkes, Olivia Hillman and Allana Sparkes
CWMCARN Gymnastics are celebrating an awesome achievement by members Kira Sparkes, Olivia Hillman and Allana Sparkes.
In their first year together, they not only secured a place in the Welsh team at the International Wint-Cup Zurich Acrobatic Gymnas-tics event, but finished a very creditable fifth overall.
They were up against a large entry in all sections from 17 countries, including Russia, USA, Germany and Poland to name but a few.
Mary Penny, head of delegation and head coach at Cwmcarn, said: “For us to go out and finish ahead of world class countries is a superb result.
“Both routines were clean and all the effort and commitment from the families, coaches and gymnasts invol-ved richly paid off.
“These results can only generate more interest in our club and we can look forward to more local children in the community taking up gymnastics.”
The club also thanks all coaches and judges who travelled with Team Wales from clubs such as Saltney, Molwyn, West Street and Milford Haven.

Just a collection from small welsh clubs that travelled to a competition. They are listed in the result tables as "team of Wales" which is NOT the Welsh team. Also the above came 5th in their category, and not 5th overall. Another group from "team of Wales" came 4th in the same category, why were they not mentioned in this article?
