South Wales Argus: Coleman may risk Matthews Coleman may risk Matthews

Wales defender Adam Matthews could be in line for a return to action in tonight’s World Cup qualifier against Croatia.

The Celtic full back missed Friday's 2-1 Group A victory over Scotland in Cardiff due to an ankle problem, but travelled with the Dragons to Osijek yesterday and his condition will be assessed ahead of kick-off by manager Chris Coleman.

"Adam is with us and we'll watch him carefully," Coleman said.

"We have to weigh up the consequences - he has not done a lot for two weeks, but he has improved since he has been with us and had more treatment.

"He could possibly join in today, or that might possibly be a little bit early.

"But he is with us and we will be waiting until the last minute before we say a definite yes or no.’’ Asked if there were any other injury concerns in the squad, Coleman said: "Not really.

"(Striker) Craig Davies is a little bit tight but he's okay.

"We took it light with him today and he didn't do too much, but he'll be alright - he's available for the game tomorrow.

"With everybody else, there are no problems.’’ Midfielder Aaron Ramsey is suspended having picked up his second yellow card of the campaign in the Scotland game, with Dave Edwards having been called up in his place.

Defender James Collins is still serving a ban after his red card against Belgium last month.
