County get out of jail in FA Cup

NEWPORT County came back from 3-1 down with 89 minutes gone to draw 3-3 at Yate Town and rescue their FA Cup dream.

The Exiles looked more than odds on to be the victims of the biggest giant killing of the fourth qualifying round after goals from Tom Knighton, Mitchell Page and Matt Groves completely transformed the contest after half time.

County were entirely dominant in the first half and missed chance after chance after Jefferson Louis gave them a sixth minute lead.

It appeared to be all over as Newport struggled to get back into things but Aaron O'Connor gave them hope on 89 minutes before Tony James rose to head home four minutes into added on time.

The replay will be this Tuesday, October 23, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The draw for the first round proper is tomorrow, Sunday, October 21 at 1.30pm.

This was not good. County don't seem to be hungry enough. 4 clear goals should have been the result. fingers need to be taken out. OK they fought back that shows character, but they always seem to think that one goal is enough. Its a poor defence that lets in 3 goals especially against teams like Yate.Imagine what the likes of exeter or bristol rovers would do against County. Good news is that the FA must be scared of newport city radio when they stopped them broadcasting the match. Lets see a bigger and better effort on tuesday.

Well I was there, and Larneman, hunger was not the only issue, it was a patched up defence that was the problem, maybe the game plan was wrong as well, Let this also be a lesson to learn, as a bit of arogance in expecting to win yesterday was not going to be enough.

As to the radio broadcast by Newport city radio not happening, well they had enough trouble fitting in a one man camera crew each for the County, the bbc and ITV.

Thanks for that Slider I live 400 miles away so its nice to read what someone who was there thought of it. Sounds like the prima donna's were very lucky in the end.
