The fishery is open, but anglers are requested to telephone the night before they are to fish if poor weather is forecasted. Pike to 10 lb sardines and mackerel are ideal baits. Eels to 4 lb, perch to 4 lb, Pollock to 4 lb, mullet to 5 lb. Waggler with bread fished just under the surface worked well. The left hand bank has fished has produced some excellent bream to 5 lb plus plenty of skimmers.

Surf casting
Casting is not everyones cup of tea but it does make one a little competitive and of course improves ones casting !!.
It was All change at the home of Welsh casting. The competition was held on the new metre court. It took a little time for everyone to get use to it but overall a very positive step forward. The weather was wall to wall sunshine but the wind couldn’t make up its mind what direction to blow, so the court was setup north easterly as forecast, but after casting into a cross winds it was voted to move the court to make the most of the southerly breeze for the afternoon.
Top of the board this month was Cornwall’s casting machine Ben Bradstock hitting a very impressive cast of 233 meters with the 125g lead.
Next our own Phil Jones with another cracking cast of 233 just a few centimetres shorter on the 100g lead. Nigel Hutchinson and Chris Brayley tied in third place with a very creditable 227 meters both on the 150g lead.
Top day caster was G Davies with a cast of 237 on the 150g
Also a big well done to John Gravel achieving yet another personal best with a fantastic cast of 202m a full 20meters on his previous PB, Another great effort from one of our improving casters James Purcell saw him set a new PB of 174 meters.
If anyone is interested and would like to join the club or just coming for a look they will be made very welcome surfcasting is a sport for all ages and all levels of ability but most of all a very social sport. The next event will be on the 9th September and all proceeds will be donated to the Welsh team traveling to France to compete for the very first time in the world championships
