THERE were wins for Andrew Selby, Bradley Pryce and Ashley Brace at tonight’s Sanigar Events boxing show at the Newport Centre.

Tony Borg-trained Selby was hugely impressive in his defeat of Brett Fidoe and became the first boxer to stop the Englishman inside the distance.

Barry flyweight Selby, who trains out of St Joseph’s Boxing Club in Newport, was dominant from the start before eventually winning with just over a minute left of the last round.

The victory takes his unbeaten record as a pro to four.

Meanwhile, a decade after winning the Commonwealth title at the same venue, Pryce showed some of his old magic in securing a points victory (60-55) over Simone Lucas.

Pryce, who said before the fight that he would retire should he lose, floored his opponent in the penultimate round.

Ebbw Vale’s Brace also maintained her unblemished record with a third-round stoppage of Romanian Gabriella Mezei.

Brace landed several good shots in the first two rounds and then unleashed a barrage of blows to send Mezei to the canvas.

There were also triumphs for Cardiff’s Craig Kennedy and Nathan Thorley, but Pontypridd light-heavyweight Jermaine Asare suffered a first-round loss.
