LEE SELBY insists his punch perfect display against Evgeny Gradovich to become Wales’ 12th world champion was just the beginning and that we’ve yet to see his best.

The Barry-boxer who trains at St Joes gym in Newport won the IBF featherweight world title after a clash of heads forced a premature end to a fight Selby utterly dominated against the IBF boxer of the year.

“It was never in doubt! I don’t mess about, I even predicted the round I would win in,” Selby said after his devastating display.

“I don’t think he would have lasted the distance, even if it wasn’t for the head cut and the stoppage.

“I had caught him with a hard shot and saw his legs went, but I was happy to pick my spots and break him down and make sure he was really ready, and then take him out in style.

“Unfortunately we clashed heads, but I was coasting. You’ve still not seen even close to the best of me. But I beat an established champion and I deserve the credit I deserve. Try and take this belt off me.”

Selby opened the door to a possible clash with Josh Warrington, the Leeds fighter who is selling insane amount of tickets and gaining an ever growing reputation.

“I want two voluntary defences before the year is out and then a mandatory, but I want to go far, I want to be in the biggest fights,” he said.

“The Warrington fight is possible, let him come.

“He’s a good fighter with a good crowd, and I’ll shut them all up and take their money.”

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn felt Selby’s amazing display vindicated the faith shown in him.

“Lee produced probably one of the best performances ever to win a world title,” he said.

“He made Gradovich look very ordinary, a guy in his fifth defence and the (IBF) fighter of the year. Selby is just on another level.

“Everyone is raving about him. I’m pleased for him and the Sanigars for the way they’ve built him up.

“He’s got something about him, he can really, really fight.

“When I signed Lee, he was selling about 34 tickets in Newport and people said ‘why are you signing him?’

“He’s got that something nasty, he’s a quiet guy, but he’s got that special thing about him. He’s going to go so far.”
