TRAINER Gary Lockett is confident ahead of Enzo Maccarinelli’s tilt at the vacant European cruiserweight title in London tonight.

Ukraine’s Dmytro Kucher stands in the way of Swansea’s former world champion, 35, but Cwmbran’s Lockett believes his man has the tools to become a two-time Euro king.

He first won the EBU belt back in 2010 when stopping Alexander Kotlobay in the Russian’s own back yard.

His reign lasted five months before he was brutally disposed of by Alexander Frenkel, who has not fought since.

“Enzo has had a good camp,” said Lockett. “I’m really confident he can do the business.

“I’ve got a really good feeling he can which would be absolutely fantastic.

“His opponent is well schooled but I think Enzo has got too much power and experience for him.

“If Enzo wins this then he has got to be looking at getting another shot at a world title.”

Tonight’s fight sees Maccarinelli return to the York Hall in Bethnal Green, the scene of three of his 41 wins as a professional.
