GHANA’S Ishmael Tetteh will be the man standing between Newport’s Lee Churcher and the vacant WBU world middleweight title later this year.
Tetteh boasts a record of 31 wins from 46 bouts and has a career spanning some 14 years, double that of Churcher.
The African’s last outing came in May when he failed in his bid to wrest the Commonwealth super-middleweight crown away from Lancashire’s Luke Blackledge.
Blackledge secured a fifth-round knockout in Bolton as Tetteh suffered yet more disappointment in a title fight.
Tetteh has lost six and drawn two of eight contests when there has been a belt on the line.
Those have included the WBO Africa super-welterweight and middleweight straps, and the WBC Youth Intercontinental super-welterweight bauble.
The clash between Churcher and Tetteh is expected to be held at the Newport Centre in October.
