BLACKWOOD’S Craig Evans will have to wait just a little bit longer for his third crack at Thomas Stalker.

The two men, who drew twice late last year, were due to meet again in Cardiff next Saturday, with Liverpudlian Stalker putting his WBO European lightweight belt on the line.

However, the Queensberry Promotions event has been postponed until Saturday, November 26 following injuries to two of the show’s big names.

WBO world middleweight king Billy Joe Saunders and Wales’ British super-welterweight champion Liam Williams have both suffered setbacks ahead of title defences.

Saunders and Williams were scheduled to defend their straps against Artur Akavov and Ahmet Patterson respectively at the Motorpoint Arena on October 22.

Promoter Frank Warren said: “We have obviously not had a lot of luck with this event, first of all being let down by Chris Eubank Jnr and now the two main fights on a card falling out on the same day.

“We have no choice but to postpone the card to a month later so everyone is given time to recover.

“I apologise to the fans for any inconvenience this may cause. It is extremely frustrating as the event is already essentially sold out and we were all geared up for a cracking night of boxing on October 22 in Cardiff.”

The venue for the rearranged show will remain the same and tickets purchased for next Saturday are valid for the new date.
