ST JOSEPH’S star Lee Selby will put his IBF world featherweight title on the line against mandatory challenger Jonathan Victor Barros in Las Vegas on January 28.

Former WBA king Barros has a record of 41 wins and one draw from 46 fights and, like Selby, only fought once this year when outpointing Japan’s Satoshi Hosono.

The clash between Selby and Barros takes place on the same bill as current WBA featherweight champion Carl Frampton’s rematch with Leo Santa Cruz.

Providing he beats Barros, it is hoped that Barry’s Selby, 29, will then face the winner of the Frampton-Santa Cruz clash later in 2017.

Dejan Zlaticanin is set to defend his WBC lightweight title against Mikey Garcia in the third world title fight scheduled for next month’s show in Las Vegas.

Selby became IBF champion when he dethroned Evgeny Gradovich at London’s O2 Arena last May.

He defended his crown for the first time with a comfortable points victory over Fernando Montiel in Glendale, Arizona five months later.

Then, after a six-month break, the Welshman recovered from a second round knockdown to claim a unanimous verdict against American Eric Hunter, again at the O2.

The showdown with Barros, 32, unbeaten in seven fights dating back to May 2013, is Selby’s last of his current contract with Matchroom Sports.

As for Argentina’s Barros, he reigned as WBA number one for 10 months after stopping Panama’s Irving Berry in December 2010.

He defended his belt twice before losing on points to another Panamanian in the shape of Celestino Caballero.
