ANDREW Selby says tomorrow’s showdown with Ardin Diale is going to be “my toughest fight yet”.

No-one has come close to beating Selby since he turned professional in 2015 on the back of a stellar amateur career.

The St Joseph’s ‘Superstar’ remains unbeaten as a pro with impressive victories in all seven of his fights to date.

Last year saw him claim the vacant British flyweight title by outpointing Louis Norman, before he stopped Jake Bornea of the Philippines to become IBF inter-continental champion.

And Selby is confident of adding a third belt to his collection this weekend, although Diale should test him a lot more than any of his previous opponents.

Diale, also of the Philippines, puts his WBC international flyweight strap on the line at London’s Olympia – Chris Eubank Jnr tops the bill in his challenge for the IBO super-middleweight crown.

Like Selby, Diale is also 28, but the latter has considerably more experience in the paid ranks.

Of his 46 bouts, 20 have been title fights, with one of those, in February 2011, being a failed attempt to claim the WBO world championship.

And, while just under half of Diale’s 32 victories have come inside the distance, he was knocked out three fights ago by the unbeaten Daigo Higa.

Looking ahead to the contest, Selby said: “The training camp has gone well, I’ve just got to perform on the night now.

“I’ve not really been tested so far, none of them have got me involved in a war, but I think this is my toughest fight yet.

“He has fought for a world title and boxed some really good people.

“He’s experienced and strong but I’m used to fighting boxers like him in the amateurs.

“He likes to come forward but if someone is throwing quite a lot of punches then he will go on the back foot.

“I’ve watched him and he’s a very good opponent, but that’s what I want.

“If I can hurt him then I’ll just keep throwing punches and I don’t think he’ll be able to come back.”

If he hadn’t been getting ready for tomorrow night then Selby would have travelled to Las Vegas with older brother Lee, whose big fight at the MGM Grand last weekend was called off.

“I couldn’t believe it,” added Selby, when asked how he reacted on hearing that his sibling’s opponent, Jonathan Victor Barros, had failed a medical.

“Lee was absolutely devastated after all the hard work he had put in.

“But he’s still got a few choices with Carl Frampton, Josh Warrington, Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares, who said he’d come to the UK.”

Meanwhile, unbeaten St Joseph’s duo Morgan Jones and Ashley Brace will be fighting in Cardiff on March 11.

Jones takes a big step up in class for an eight-round international light-heavyweight contest against Libya’s undefeated Malik Zinad.

There is also a Motorpoint Arena debut for Ebbw Vale bantamweight Brace, who is honing in on a European title shot.
