ST JOSEPH’S star Lee Selby will defend his IBF world featherweight crown against Argentina’s Jonathan Victor Barros in Las Vegas on June 27.

The fight had been due to take place at the MGM Grand in January but was called off the day before when Barros failed to meet the requirements of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Selby, IBF king since beating Evgeny Gradovich in May 2015, put that disappointment behind him quickly and went on to beat Spain’s Andoni Gago in a non-title bout last month.

There were hopes that the 30-year-old from Barry was on course for a showdown with Northern Ireland’s Carl Frampton, but the IBF say he must face mandatory challenger Barros.

Meanwhile, Selby’s St Joes stablemate Fred Evans is finally set to make his professional debut.

Olympic silver medallist Evans, 26, turned pro back in December 2015, 14 months after receiving a two-year suspended jail sentence for breaking a friend’s jaw at a Gloucestershire pub.

Evans has worked hard in the gym since being spared prison and will appear on the Cyclone Promotions show at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on May 26.

The same show also sees Lee Selby’s younger brother Andrew take on Nicaragua’s Cristofer Rosales in a WBC world flyweight title eliminator.

Four St Joes fighters enter the ring in the Welsh capital in all, with Gavin Gwynne and Daniel Barton both looking to maintain unbeaten records.

Morgan Jones was scheduled to box Malik Zinad but has dropped out as he doesn’t want to fight above the super-middleweight limit.

It is a busy few months for St Joes boxers, with Lee Churcher and Dale Evans joining Pontypool’s Kieran Gething on a promotion at Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall on May 13.

Blackwood’s WBO European lightweight champion Craig Evans then defends his title for the first time against Stephen Ormond in Belfast on June 17.

Finally, Newbridge veteran Bradley Pryce, who went back on his decision to retire after losing to Zach Parker in January, returns to action next month.

He is gearing up for a May 20 clash with unbeaten Scottish ace Connor Law in Motherwell, in what will be the Welshman’s 61st outing in the paid ranks.
