FROM one big stage to another and after doing ourselves proud in defeat to Montpellier hopefully we can win for the first time at Judgement Day against the Scarlets.

It was a fantastic occasion in the semi-final of the European Challenge Cup and I am happy that we produced a resilient performance to push a quality side sitting second in the Top 14 hard on their own ground.

Even with the 'off-field matters' that have been going on, all of us knew that we had to just get on with our job throughout the week and perform away from home in France for the third time this year.

When we heard the Montpellier side on Friday there was excitement about going up against the Du Plessis brothers, Frans Steyn, Pierre Spies, Fulgence Ouedraogo… it emphasised that we needed to be on our A game.

Sometimes we don't go up against the big stars when facing certain teams due to international periods or rotation of other teams but they selected first-teamers and we did ourselves proud.

Montpellier's budget is massive and I'm told the television commentator said it was like Poundstretcher against Harrods!

You've got to laugh and I think it puts into context how well we did at Altrad Stadium against a team with several times our salary budget and also to get to the semi-finals for the second season running does show the potential of our team.

We go straight into another big game and will face the Scarlets at Principality Stadium in front of what could be a sell-out crowd on Saturday.

Judgement Day has become a game that all players look forward to and it's another opportunity for us to express ourselves.

We are going into the game as underdogs because it's the Scarlets who are fighting at the top for a place in the Guinness Pro12 play-offs and cannot afford a slip.

The pressure is on them to play and score and we have to look after the ball, put pressure on them and not concede penalties.

We have been guilty of being our own worst enemies at times and sometimes by simply recycling the ball and going through phases, instead of aiming 'double top' all the time you earn your points and frustrate opposition.

It was pointed out to me this week that we have lost our three previous Judgement Day fixtures and that we are yet to win a Welsh derby this season – this is certainly not something to be proud about and will certainly be mentioned in the pre-match talk to make sure the boys realise that this is a huge game for us.

The latest event in mine and Ashley Smith's beneficiary year will be taking place at Judgement Day at 'Shooters Bar' in the Bierkeller next to the stadium.

Some past players will be giving their insight into the two games from 1pm ahead of the Cardiff Blues versus Ospreys fixture and ours against the Scarlets.

A band will be providing some of the entertainment before the main event after the game when the Ospreys' Dan Evans, Cardiff Blues' Lloyd Williams, the Scarlets' Ken Owens and our very own Hallam Amos will part of a panel. There will be a Q&A with a compere and before they field a few questions from the floor.

There will be also be a raffle and auction to raise some funds for St David's Hospice.

The pre-match event costs just £5 and £10 wristbands are available that give entry to Shooters before and after the games, which include a free drink. Tickets can be bought at billetto.co.uk/en/events/judgement-day-pre-post-match-event.

Looking forward to seeing the Dragons faithful at the Principality and Beirkeller event.
