LET’S put a pin in the Chris Blight issue that is sadly a negative aspect of what has been one of the most newsworthy and important summer’s in Newport County AFC’s history.

The move to Rodney Parade on the back of the historic first game at Wembley and now the news that Euro Millions winner Les Scadding has joined the board of the Exiles.

It’s a big capture for County and kudos to Blight and Howard Greenhaf for months of courting Scadding and integrating him into the set-up.

Some more ‘non-conditional’ appointments to the board will be made soon and there remains a possibility of a group of businessmen also opting to invest in the club.

With key signings like Aaron O’Connor and especially Mike Flynn also finally arriving, Exiles supporters must be crazy if they are not more optimistic than they’ve been in years.
