FORMER Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is usually the most big-headed footballer at major international football tournaments but with Denmark failing to qualify for Euro 2016 there is a vacancy to fill.

Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the obvious candidate but Wales’ very own Hal Robson-Kanu is certainly not lacking in self-confidence.

The Reading front man made himself a cult hero with the Wales fans during the qualifying campaign with a special chant to the tune of Salt-N-Pepa’s Push It to prove it.

When asked to describe all his teammates recently, Wales captain Ashley Williams said of Robson-Kanu: “Hal’s a good guy but he absolutely loves himself.

“He did a great job for us in the campaign and has that song but, yeah, he absolutely loves himself!”

As if to prove Williams’ point, Robson-Kanu was in confident mood when he answered questions about his future at club level on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old is set to leave Championship club Reading at the end of his contract this summer and he made it quite clear that he sees himself playing at the top level.

Asked if he had interest from clubs, the striker said: “Yeah, of course. I’ve been at Reading for 12 years and after we came down from the Premier League every summer the club has rejected bids from various Premier League clubs.

“It was my best season as a professional – scoring seven goals in the Premier League – and that’s somewhere I feel comfortable and somewhere I’d relish getting back to.”

Euro 2016 is not a bad shop window and we can only hope that Robson-Kanu shines alongside Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey in the coming weeks.

Bale is obviously the main focus of attention from the media and fans in the Wales camp but, when asked his favourite player, one French school kid surprised everyone by plumping for Chris Gunter.

The Newport boy’s fame is spreading then but not everyone is so clued up about the Welsh squad.

One English photographer at the training base in Dinard got some funny looks when he revealed that he had no idea that Wales and England had been paired together in Group B.

Talking of snappers, Chris Coleman’s wife Charlotte responded to the story about the Wales boss’ fake team sheet gag at England coach Ray Lewington’s expense.

The TV presenter posted on Twitter: “Chris wasn’t having a pop at England or Ray – just the nosey photographers!!”
