WALES have definitely won the war of words in the build-up to the clash with England with Gareth Bale the main man with a microphone in hand just as he is with a football at his feet.

The Real Madrid star seems to be positively revelling in winding up the opposition, with Aaron Ramsey happy to back him up just as he does on the pitch.

The whole atmosphere around the Welsh camp is incredibly relaxed with players laughing and joking with the media and seemingly intent on enjoying every moment of the Euro 2016 experience.

Reports from the England camp suggest that the mood there is much tenser with Roy Hodgson’s men aware that the pressure is all on them.

But at the Dinard media centre Bale has even taken to making little playful digs at the English members of the Welsh press pack.

When one asked him whether he expected to be playing up front again or in a deeper role, Bale broke into a broad grin.

He then tapped his nose and joked: “The English are trying it again!”

South Wales Argus:

The beautiful seaside resort of Dinard perfectly matches the laid-back attitude that surrounds this Welsh squad.

The players have mostly been confined to their four-star spa hotel and the training ground.

But, between watching training sessions, attending press conferences and bashing out copious amounts of copy, the media have found some time to explore the charming coastal town.

There are a number of fine restaurants with plenty of fresh seafood on offer.

And, while the concept of vegetarianism has not really registered over here, I was intrigued to see a ‘Newport burger’ on the menu at one establishment.

If you want to make one back home it’s described as: “Bun, beef meat 240g, fried egg on top, tomatoes, salad, Newport sauce.”

South Wales Argus:

We have seen a handful of Wales fans on the sauce in Dinard as well.

One enterprising group attempted to fool a bar owner into giving them free drinks by claiming to be members of the Football Association of Wales backroom team.

Sadly for them, they were rumbled and ended up empty handed – probably the only Welsh tactical failure in France so far.
