FORMER Wales manager Chris Coleman has thanked fans for their support during his time in charge of the national team.
Speaking at the switch-on of Newport’s Christmas lights on Saturday, he said: “As much as you enjoyed it, I enjoyed it just the same as you guys.
“We are all passionate Welsh men and women and a huge thank you for everything you have given to me and the team over the last six years. You have been absolutely amazing.”
Coleman also said he would like to see a Welshman take charge of the national team.
“It needs to be a passionate Welsh man for me, but obviously I don’t make that decision, that will be with the powers that be,” he added.
Coleman told the crowd he plans to take charge as new manager of Sunderland in time for their clash with Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.
