IT’S been another great week for the County and we are all still buzzing from a brilliant night at Hereford on Tuesday.

It was an incredible game to play in with three penalties given against us.

And coming back twice to win 3-2 in injury time just shows the character and the belief we’ve got in this squad.

It was a tough game because I think Hereford tried to spoil it a little bit by picking a big, physical team.

They tried to intimidate us and bully us a bit but the boys were brilliant.

Edgar Street is a tough place to go and Martin Foyle is a good manager so to win there and do the double over them this season is a great achievement.

It was important that we won it because the other teams at the top are all winning as well but the way we won it with a cracking goal right at the end made it extra special.

It did start the emotions going and made us feel that this really could be our year.

Games like that can make your season. We would have taken a draw at 2-1 down but getting that win could just give us the final push for the last 13 games.

The crowd was incredible as well. It was like a home game for us with the amount of noise they were making.

They played a huge part in us winning that game and I was giving high fives to all of them after the winner went in.

The moments like that are why you play football. It was brilliant and you’ve got to hang on to them because not everyone is lucky enough to experience them in their career or in life.

Running down the front row I recognized a lot of faces from around Newport.

Being from the city it means a lot to me and it would be the biggest achievement of my career if we can go up this season.

I was pleased for Robbie Willmott to get the winning goal as well because he’s a great lad.

He hasn’t moaned at all when he’s been out of the side, he’s just got his head down and worked hard and he got his reward on Tuesday.

We’ve seen already with Ben Swallow and Ryan Charles that everyone is going to have their moment this season and the squad is going to be vital for these final 13 games.

Tuesday was great but that’s gone now and we know we’ve got to focus on today’s match.

Ebbsfleet will be another tough game. We won’t be taking them lightly because they’re fighting for their lives at the bottom but we’re full of confidence at the moment and we’ll be looking for another three points.

We’ve just got to keep winning and hope the other sides slip up.

We’ve got a mad couple of days with a trip to Hartlepool to play Gateshead on Monday as well so it’s going to be a big test.

We’ll be in on for a recovery session tomorrow before making the long trip north on Monday morning.

One down side about the win at Hereford was that we lost Danny Crow to injury, which is a big blow.

He was doing a lot of the hard work thAat sometimes goes unnoticed so we’ll miss him but Aaron O’Connor is pretty close to being back now so hopefully he can fill that gap.

The gaffer changed it round the other day with Rhys Griffiths coming in and he did well too so I’m confident we’ve got the players to cope with injuries now.

Finally, I need to set the record straight about my mate Alan Tobin who I mentioned in my column last week in a joke that backfired on me. Alan is a very close friend of mine, we go back a long way to when I was eight and he was ten, and he’s by no means a hanger-on as I described him.

He let me stay at his house with him and his wife when I first moved back here and he’s supported me throughout my career.

Friends and family make all the difference to us as the season reaches crunch time. So sorry Alan, you’re not a hanger-on but you do look like Phil Mitchell!
