THE sun has been shining on us in Newport this week after a great win at Grimsby but we know that things can change quickly in football and storm clouds could be just around the corner.

We are confident that we can finish the job in tomorrow’s second leg at Rodney Parade but it’s not done yet.

We know it’s going to be a war because Grimsby are a very strong team and if we don’t match them in all aspects of the game then we’ll end up getting turned over.

We have to match their effort and desire and better it.

It won’t be a classic match to watch but the feeling after the match will be amazing if we win.

It would also be catastrophic to lose it from here so the lads are taking nothing for granted.

We’ll give it our best shot and hopefully it will be enough to get us to Wembley.

I always fancy us against anyone, to be honest. We’ve got such a great attacking team and now that we’ve tightened up in defence we are looking really good.

As the game was coming towards an end on Wednesday we probably would have taken a draw but to score in the last minute was fantastic and it gives us a great platform to build on.

We obviously have the advantage now and it could play on Grimsby’s mind that it’s not going to be their year.

They will have to come and attack us and I think that will play into our hands really.

If we score again they will be chasing it big time and that will hopefully mean we can get in behind them and kill the tie off.

They are renowned as a strong team that doesn’t give much away but a 0-0 is no good to them now so they’ll have to come at us at some point.

If we defend like we did on Wednesday night and how we have over the last two or three months then we will be going to Wembley.

Wednesday’s match was chalk and cheese from the game at Blundell Park last Saturday.

Grimsby were better than us on the day but we were thinking about Wednesday and I would have happily lost that game 9-0 if it meant we had a better chance in the games that really matter.

And there’s no bigger game than tomorrow at Rodney Parade in front of 7,000 fans.

It’s going to be an unbelievable atmosphere – a real cauldron for Grimsby to come into – and hopefully we can give the long-suffering fans something to cheer about.

We want to make history by being the team that takes Newport County back into the Football League and come 6.30pm or 7pm tomorrow we want to see smiles on the faces of our fans.

This is the game I’ve looked forward to most in my career.

I’ve played a lot of big games but this one means the most to me.

As a Newport boy I know how much it would mean for this club and this city to get into League Two.

We want to bring some positivity into Newport.

Thankfully I’m feeling fully fit after my injury now.

The first leg of the play-offs was probably my first really big test in three or four weeks because it was a really hard game, there was a lot of running off the ball, and that will stand me in good stead for tomorrow, if selected.

As well as the physical effects, play-off semi-finals are emotionally draining games to play in as well and I’m hoping to be emotionally draining a few bottles of Stella tomorrow night before focusing on the final at Wembley!

Finally, as a Liverpool fan I’ve got to mention Luis Suarez.

I’m not condoning what he did but the ten-game ban is crazy in my opinion.

Is biting someone worse than breaking someone’s leg? No. I’d say a fine and a five-game ban would have been fair.

I’ve never been bitten on the pitch or if I have I’ve never felt it.

I have been spat on and I think that’s just as bad but Suarez plays on the edge and sometimes he loses it.

I just don’t think the punishment fits the crime on this occasion and I’m surprised Liverpool have just accepted the punishment.

At least it gave the FA something to get their teeth into and they showed that, just like the Conference chiefs, they’re out of touch.
