GLAMORGAN'S new coach can spearhead a promotion charge in the County Championship, according to batsman Will Bragg.

The Welsh county are on the hunt for a new boss after the December departure of Toby Radford a year before his contract was due to expire.

Glamorgan finished fourth in Division Two last year and Bragg believes they are well placed to push the likes of Sussex, Worcestershire, Essex and Northants for a place in the top two.

"Last year I think we made some pretty big strides from where we were the season before," said the 29-year-old left-hander from Cwmbran.

"We've got a nice mix of youth and the more experienced guys so the blend of the team is there to progress.

"We want to build on what we did last year and go one better by getting promoted to Division One."

Bragg scored 588 runs in the championship last season at an average of 26.73 with two hundreds and a fifty so is targeting more consistency in the middle in 2016 along with an upturn in fortunes in limited overs cricket.

"As top order batsmen we go into every season trying to pass the landmark of 1,000 runs in four-day cricket," he said.

"Personally, I want to improve my one day game, more specifically the 50-over format, and then try to take that into the T20 games too.

"Whilst there's definitely an emphasis on improving my one-day game, I'm also looking to be a bit more consistent in the four-day format."

Robert Croft, who has been added to the England coaching team as a spin specialist for the one-day series with South African, is the front-runner to replace Radford.
