NEWPORT Gwent Dragons have agreed a fresh two-year contract with ‘Mr Reliable’ Adam Warren.

The 25-year-old centre, who can also play on the wing, has been a huge hit since heading east from the Scarlets in the summer of 2015 and remarkably brought up a swift half-century of appearances in last Sunday’s Anglo-Welsh Cup clash with Newcastle.

In his first campaign with the Dragons he played in all 30 games andhe has featured in 20 of 22 fixtures so far this season despite fierce competition from fellow centres Jack Dixon, Tyler Morgan and Sam Beard.

Warren, who won a cap for Wales against the Barbarians in 2012, believes he has reaped the rewards of the decision to leave the Scarlets for Rodney Parade.

"I am really enjoying playing regular rugby against top sides, whilst fully challenging myself," said the back from Burry Port. “It’s a good region with a big history.

“There are a lot of talented players in the squad that I enjoy playing with, but we really need to show more of what we are capable of on a regular basis and kick on in the league.

“As a young squad we have plenty of ambition to become successful both as a team and individuals.”

Head coach Kingsley Jones is thrilled to have secured the services of another influential figure having already agreed deals with captain and back row forward Lewis Evans, Wales wing Hallam Amos, tighthead prop Brok Harris, lock Rynard Landman, openside Nic Cudd and number eight Ed Jackson.

“He is at a very good stage in his career and I'm sure we are yet to see the best of Adam, who has already represented Wales,” said Jones.

“Adam is very versatile player which allowed him to play in every single game for the Men of Gwent last season, emphasising what a valuable member of our playing squad he is.

“He is often our best player no matter which position he is selected, and always gives everything in training and on the field of play.”
