RYNARD Landman says Newport Gwent Dragons will head to Zebre on Saturday with a point to prove after a humbling in Italy last year – and is confident a win in Parma will spark a strong Guinness PRO12 run-in.

The lock was a replacement at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi last May when the Dragons were drubbed 47-22.

They return this weekend (kick-off 1.30pm) looking to avenge that defeat and record a first away win of the season.

The Dragons haven't won since beating Enisei-STM at Rodney Parade on January 13 but pushed title hopefuls Ulster hard last time out only to be denied by a late charge by the Irish province.

With games against bottom club Zebre and ninth-placed Edinburgh to come along with derbies against the Scarlets and Cardiff Blues, Landman is confident of a strong final month.

"Zebre beat us heavily last year, so we've got something to put right," said the South African forward, who signed a two-year contract extension in December.

"If we can repeat the effort from Ulster against the four teams that we've got left then we will definitely get something out of the games.

"That's what we need as a group, for us to be rewarded for the effort that we put in. I can tell you how hard all the players work behind the scenes every week, so if we get a reward then I think there will be a snowball effect with one win, two wins, three wins."

If the Dragons, who have won four of 18 PRO12 fixtures, are to enjoy their run-in then they need to mix endeavour with more accuracy, according to Landman.

"Ulster was our last game of the season at Rodney Parade and we wanted to end on a high, especially after the previous two games," he said, referring to the 54-22 and 47-17 hammerings to Leinster and Glasgow respectively. "We didn't get the win but it was much more like it from us.

"Throughout the season I don't think the effort, guts and commitment of the players could be questioned.

"Every single player gave everything against Ulster and it was just sad that we didn't get a point out of it but we need to keep our heads up high and work even harder.

"We camped inside their 22 for a long time and needed to get points but vital errors cost us. We need to put that right."

The Dragons' last PRO12 away win was against Treviso in March, 2015, a miserable streak of 22 games (24 including Judgement Day).

They face a Zebre side fresh from a morale-boosting 25-22 victory against Connacht on Saturday, just their second league success of the campaign.
