NEWPORT Gwent Dragons will channel the frustration from their implosion at Edinburgh to try and end their Guinness PRO12 derby losing streak against Cardiff Blues on Saturday.

The Dragons have lost home advantage for the season finale after a fixture clash that sees Newport County given priority at Rodney Parade for their League Two encounter with Notts County.

That means Kingsley Jones' men, who haven't won outside of NP19 in the league since March, 2015, head to Caerphilly and they will be fuelled by their agonising loss at Myreside.

The Dragons led 20-3 as the clock passed 70 minutes and were on the brink of a win that would have lifted them to ninth and ended their away drought.

However, they contrived to concede three tries and suffer a defeat that leaves them just three points above both Treviso and Zebre, who meet in Parma this weekend.

"There's anger and we have to take that frustration into the Blues game. There is no good feeling sorry for ourselves," said head coach Jones.

"We feel a couple of decisions went against us as well, so if we've got to use that frustration and the feeling that the world is against us then we will.

"The Blues are a good side and we are playing at a neutral ground, so it's a big challenge for us, but the talk in the changing room was disappointment positive looking forward."

The Dragons failed to end their nightmare away losing streak but now turn their attention to ending their PRO12 derby losing streak.

They beat the Scarlets in the Anglo-Welsh Cup earlier this season but haven't triumphed against Welsh rivals in the league since beating Cardiff Blues in the capital on Boxing Day, 2014, a run of 14 losses on the spin.

The Dragons go into final weekend five points back on Edinburgh but their points difference, -199 to the Scots' -102, makes it highly unlikely that even a bonus point win would see them climb a place.

Jones' side would drop to 11th if they fail to take anything from the game in Caerphilly while a loss with a consolation bonus would see them cling onto 10th if Zebre win without scoring five tries, as the teams would be locked on four wins and the Dragons have a superior points difference.

The Dragons are hopeful of Wales hopeful Tyler Morgan returning from the ribs injury that forced him to miss the Edinburgh game and will assess the blow to Carl Meyer.

The full-back was forced off at Myreside after being struck in the ribs by Allan Dell with a dangerous, no-arms clear out at a ruck that saw the prop yellow-carded.

It's the Dragons' final game of the campaign but the seventh-placed Blues will face a Champions Cup qualifying play-off against either English or French opposition depending on whether they stay above Connacht.
