NEWPORT County's match against Macclesfield has been called off after a waterlogged Rodney Parade failed a pitch inspection.

Totally unprofessional when there is a pitch cover. Presumably it wasn't used when it rained all day yesterday. NCAFC now face two weeks when they will have to play Tuesday and Thursday.
Manager and players must be annoyed.

Well only got to Beechwood when I found out so saved a bit of fuel. lol.At this rate we will still be playing in June.I will bet the Conference say something to us about this, unlike the other clubs in the league like Gateshead.

OMG another game cancelled.

they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but county please stop following gateshead.

we are moaning about 5 games in a week , the way things are going we'll be playing 7 games in a week at this rate

I would like to give a big thank you to both the referee and the club's publicity manager today who have shown utter contempt for loyal long distance travelling fans like me i.e. 25 miles each way plus the bridge fee.
I actually turned up as there was no communication whatsoever on the web or other media to say that there would be a pitch inspection.
Have a look at this page. This article is timed at 1-59pm. I had already left the house at 1-30pm. Why was it at such short noice??? The pitch inspection should have taken place much earlier in the day plus proper COMMUNICATION!
Utter shambles! Where on earth do we go from here? Don't hold your breath as RAIN IS FORECAST FOR MONDAY AND TUESDAY!!!!

If the pitch cover had been on this wouldn't have happened. It's as simple as that!!!!!!!!
Nothing to do with rugby match on tomorrow
If it's left to the match referee it's bound to be short notice.

Newport played on the pitch on Thursday night and it was very good. Good grass cover and no mud patches to all about. The ground staff have done a very good job of getting it ready so why were the covers not used, simple it rained over night last night (Friday) and it was so heavy at times I'm not in the least suprised.

I feel very sorry for Llandaff and others who turned up at the ground only to find the game cancelled.You must all have been furious and I don't blame you ! What a shameful way to treat loyal supporters if no communication about a pitch inspection taking place was given. If the pitch wasn't covered when the facility to do is there than that is another piece of dreadful mismanagement.The Met office had forecast rain so what was the head groundsman thinking.All in all a complete mess up (i won't say the other word because it will be censored) !! This is no way to run a professional football club !!

Wasted 120mile round trip and bridge toll for me too. From the photos seen it's clear the decision should have been made much earlier as there seemed little hope of the match being on.

The reason covers weren't used is because there aren't any. They have frost covers but not rain covers which are totally different.

Perhaps with the non man made global warming which is undoubtedly happening and the unprecedented amounts of precipitation we are now getting 'The friends' might like to invest in rain covers for the pitch. Didn't they say something about holding cash back for a rainy day ?

I know it is frustrating guys but the league is still there for the taking so let's try to focus our collective energy towards that - as Ado says believe!!! Just like Wales have done after losing 6 nations opener. Keep plugging away - keep going! Yes, Ado by the way!! Hope the family is well mate.

IS THE KIDDERMINSTER GAME GOING TO BE SUBJECT TO AN EARLY PITCH INSPECTION? YES OR NO? PLEASE SAY SO BEFORE NOON ON TUESDAY.
I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I WASTE ANOTHER FORTUNE TRAVELLING 25 MILES EACH WAY OVER THE BRIDGE.

the potential for a fixture pile up should have been forseen by the conference management team with a 20th april finish

they should have either have started the season early , or asked to use an alternative venue to wembley HOW ABOUT THE EXCELLENT MILLENIUM STADIUM!

but forward planning is obviously not what the conference management team are about.

I thought that if I wanted to know what was going on at County all I had to do was click onto the website, just like I used to under the old chairman. But now the website is empty of information. The old manger used to write stuff on it Sorry to say I have to click onto the Argus and read your comments or I would'nt have a clue. So thanks to all you guys for giving me an insight that I would never know anything about.

I don't think the cover would have helped. The water would still have got into the ground Rodney Parade has always been prone to water logging at high tide. maybe drainage can be improved and if we had the new turf that they introduced at Sophia Gardens it might improve things.

No need to forget about Gateshead though the situation there is different and at least we know that yesterdays pitch was unplayable.
