NEWPORT County AFC have announced that loan star Tom Naylor will remain at Rodney Parade until the end of the season.

The midfielder's initial loan deal from Derby County was due to end on January 6.

A statement on the club's official website reads: "Newport County AFC and Derby County FC have reached an agreement to extend the Standard Loan for Tom Naylor from 7th January through to the end of the season.

"This is great news for all concerned and Tom has been an integral part of the County squad since the beginning of the season.

"Only Adam Chapman, Conor Washington and Robbie Willmott have made more league appearances for Newport County AFC this season.

"Indeed, with 20 league and 7 cup matches under his belt and 1 goal (against Braintree Town in the FA Cup), Tom hopes to continue the good progress made by the club on their return to the Football League.

"Tom's initial loan was due to end on 6th January 2014 making the player eligible for the forthcoming home matches against Oxford United and Northampton Town before the loan extension kicks in."

Naylor posted an update on his Twitter account, which read: “Delighted to sign till the end of the season. Love to finish what we have here and that’s promotion.”
