Newport County appeal for pitch volunteers as rain covers come in

Newport County AFC are appealing for volunteers to go to Rodney Parade today at 3pm to help get the pitch ready for tomorrow night's match against AFC Wimbledon.

The plea comes as hired rain covers, that are lifted away from the pitch by hot air blowers, are installed by a specialist firm later this afternoon.

The club asks if volunteers could bring spades with them.

A Newport County spokesman said: "We understand how much help has already gone into working on the pitch and we thank everyone for their efforts."

Anyone who can help this afternoon is asked to call Jordan Royal on 01633 670690.

Try this then!
Went over the pitch at 2 45pm and was walking along the Hazel terrace, a guy called John ask me if he could help me ( bearing in mind I was over there to help him ) I replied no and he said " can you leave as we don't appreciate people over here " . I shovelled snow off the pitch last season to get the Barrow game on, but I cannot see me doing any shovelling in the near future.
Not very good PR for RP.
